Power of the Purse

Impacting the Community through Fun and Philanthropy
POP provides funds and assistance to people in need, and organizations that assist them, in Cowley County.
POP members explore and collaborate with other women who share values, learn about non-profits and community needs. Every member offers input to the Circle's goals and grant awards. Membership in the Circle is open to all women who live or work in Cowley County and wish to further the mission and goals of the Circle through financial support. A minimum contribution of $400 per year is required. 
POP is also welcoming member 40 years of age and younger at the $200 level.

Power of the Purse grant $3,400 to the Community Learning Center in Winfield for the purchase of iPads. At the end of the table, you can see the teacher's iPad which is sending content (via a wireless internet connection) to the television for the classroom to see.

Jordan McDowell, a 2010 graduate of Arkansas City High School, is the recipient of the first ever Young Philanthropist’s Scholarship, provided by POP. McDowell is studying social work at Washburn University where she will be a senior next year.
