Bailey's Barking Dog Park Dedication

Post date: 4/7/2021

Winfield, KS: The work is done! Now for fun! Bailey’s Barking Dog Park is officially ready to let the dogs run! Fencing, water, trees, signs, benches and all the play equipment are installed. The 4-H Junior Leaders program project of Bailey Haunschild, Winfield teenager, is completed. A ribbon cutting and dedication is scheduled for Friday, April 23 at 10 AM at Bailey's Barking Dog Park (near Black Creek Park) 19th Avenue & Wheat Road, Winfield.

A dog park is a public park, typically fenced, where people and their dogs can play together allowing dogs to exercise and socialize safely. It promotes a healthy lifestyle for both the dogs and their owners. Bailey believes a dog park could be the reason someone would choose to move to Winfield over a neighboring town without one.

Bailey started the project in October 2017 researching information, drawing plans and getting permission from the City of Winfield for the dog park to be built on vacant city-owned land on the south side of Black Creek Park. Haunschild also applied for several grants to support the project.
