Brian Shaw Memorial Scholarship - Winfield
Brian Thomas Shaw was born November 26, 1967, to James Thomas (Tom) and Marilyn Kay (Pretzer) Shaw in Emporia, Kansas and passed from this life on September 25, 2018 at his home.
Kristi and Brian were married for 25 years, and were proud, adoring parents of two accomplished daughters, Halston (22) of Rogers, Arkansas, and Hadlea (16) of the home in Arkansas City.
Kristi and Brian moved to Arkansas City in 1992.
Sports were a huge part of Brian’s educational experience, eventually using his athletic powers to enjoy collegiate competition while completing his Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education and Health and Wellness, with an endorsement in Science from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1992. Brian started his career at Arkansas City Public schools and has taught for the last 24 years at Winfield High School. He was also a long time member of the First United Methodist Church.
Brian and his family were huge sports fans. The family asked attendees of the celebration of lift to wear their Cubs, KC Royals, Ark City Bulldogs, Winfield Vikings or any of the several #teamshaw cancer shirts in remembrance of Brian.
