Power of the Purse grant application announced

Cowley County (KS), August 1, 2022: The 2022 grant application for the Power of the Purse (POP) funding has been released. The Power of the Purse – a women’s giving circle established with Legacy Regional Community Foundation – is currently accepting grant applications from area nonprofit organizations that align with their mission “to better the lives of women and children in Cowley County.” Eligible applicant organizations include 501c3 organizations, quasi-governmental entities, and service clubs willing to team up with a qualified organization. Power of the Purse aims to make a difference in the lives of women and children in the community by encouraging community within the circle and with those they serve, educating and increasing awareness of local need, as well as building a network to catalyze positive change

Power of the Purse (POP) has given over $270,000 in grants and scholarships since the giving circle was established in 2007. POP operates by combining membership contributions to form a fund from which grants are awarded. In 2021, organizations receiving grant funding included Angels in the Attic, Ark City Public Library, Cowley House of Hope, Cowley Cares Coalition, Elevate Cowley County, REACH, and Soroptimist International of Arkansas City.
