VISTA meets LEGACY FOUNDATION

Follow Your Passion. Find Your Purpose.

Those are the words used to describe life as a VISTA!

The Corporation for National and Community Service recounts being an AmeriCorps VISTA member is about making a tangible difference for communities and individuals dealing with some of our Nation's biggest challenges: poverty, inequity, homelessness, and lack of access to education. Today, more than 45 million Americans live in poverty.

Nearly 8,000 annually make the commitment to contribute their skills, talents, and motivation to change the lives of people. VISTA members also help to build the capacity of organizations that are working to alleviate poverty all across the country.

Legacy Foundation is pleased to announce, through an agreement with Washburn University, two VISTA members have joined our ranks to work in Cowley County over the next twelve months. Kathy Graeff and Patty Oneil will focus their efforts on building capacity within Legacy Foundation through work strengthening our area nonprofit organizations in building connections, assisting with grant-writing and marketing, and creating a countywide volunteer network.

Both of our VISTAS are longtime Cowley County residents, but please help us welcome them to their new roles in our community. You are sure to hear from them soon or see them out-and-about our community! Reach out to them by email, call or drop by Legacy Foundation to learn more about their work.
